White wine grapefruit sangria takes the citrus-and-wine combination to a new level. The sharp, near-bitter flavor of red grapefruit is more refreshing than sweet and pairs so well with a crisp pinot grigio. This grapefruit sangria recipe also incorporates blood oranges, blackberries, sugar, triple sec, rum and lemon-lime soda. It’s a perfect go-to sangria for when the weather starts to get warm – or for even when you just want to dream about spring.

White Wine Grapefruit Sangria Ingredients

Citrus is so yummy this time of year. I wanted to make a shining star of this sangria recipe. In addition, I also grabbed blood oranges. And I couldn’t resist including blackberries in the mix, so I threw those in my cart, too.

I wanted a crisp and refreshing white wine. This Smoking Loon 2017 Pinot Grigio seemed perfect. To further the grapefruit flavor, I decided to also add a little grapefruit juice, triple sec and rum, with lemon-lime soda for effervescence.

Preparing White Wine Grapefruit Sangria

Making white wine grapefruit sangria is a breeze. Simply rinse and prepare the fruit – I sliced the grapefruit and oranges, and then quartered the slices. I used a whole large grapefruit, about one and a half blood oranges, and a 6-ounce package of fresh blackberries.

Once all the fruit was in the pitcher, I added 1/2  cup of red grapefruit juice and a 1/4 cup each of sugar, triple sec and white rum. Then I poured in the wine and stirred.

Into the fridge it went, where I let the mixture steep for about five hours, though four hours would probably be plenty. And if you have time to let it chill overnight, this white wine grapefruit sangria would make for a delicious brunch beverage.

When I was ready to serve, I added in two cups of lemon-lime soda, to add some bubbles. Then I poured the white wine grapefruit sangria over ice to serve. It was so delicious. I believe my only mistake was that I didn’t make more!

I will definitely be adding this white wine grapefruit sangria recipe to my repertoire. I hope you’ll give it a go, as well. Cheers!

The Tao of Wine & Fruit
There’s something about the experience of making sangria that feels artful and contemplative – the delight in shopping for the ingredients, the feeling of Zen as you focus your attention on slicing oranges and cutting strawberries, even the hours it takes for the finished product to reach perfection.
